Ramadan – Update

GLASGOW Afghan United (GAU) would like to again wish all our members and the wider Muslim community in Scotland a safe and blessed Ramadan.

At the beginning of the holy month, we shared information about our food deliveries service, which supports households in need.

We began this service to assist people who were shielding, isolating or in financial hardship as a result of coronavirus and have extended and adapted it to cater for struggling households who are observing Ramadan.

We did this because we understand that it is not always easy to know where to turn, or to ask for help even when you do know where to look.

We have received a number of requests for support and are working hard to fulfil this.

At this time, we are not able to take any new requests for food parcels.

For those people who have already contacted us, we will be in touch as soon as we can.

We would like to take this opportunity to restate our thanks to the trusted partners who have made this service possible and to the wonderful volunteers who assist us in preparing the packs and making deliveries.

The organisations who have generously helped us include Foundation Scotland, Glasgow City Council, the Scottish Refugee Council, ng Homes, the Big Lottery and Mears Group.
