What We Do

GAU supports refugees and migrants from ethnic minority groups to reach their potential.

Our services include Dari language classes, Pashto language classes, Esol classes, employment workshops, youth and family support services, drop-in and telephone advice. Standards are high and so are our results.

GAU loves football. The annual Refugee Festival Football Tournament is one of our flagship initiatives.

We also love taekwondo, badminton, cycling, swimming and cricket and offer clubs for men, women and children because race, religion, nationality, age, gender or sexual orientation shouldn’t stop anyone lacing their trainers.

Women's Empowerment Project

WE know that by lifting women up, whole families are lifted. Our Women’s Empowerment Project is a safe space and platform for skill-building, education, employment, mental health, leisure, advice and support.

Cultural Programmes & Events

AFGHANISTAN and Scotland share a love of good poetry and great food. We celebrate Burns & Rumi every January to honour these cultural traditions, and cook up annual feasts for Nowruz and Eid.

We also share the legacy of Ahmad Shah Massoud and cherish the vibrant cultural heritage for all in Scotland, our home, as equal citizens.
